Just heard the very sad news that Gary Loggins has passed away leaving with him his vast knowledge of film and his legacy of his Cracked Rear Viewer film blog. He was one of the first bloggers to follow me when I started my own venture into blog-land. Gary always had tip top recommendations to fill way too many extra hours of watching time. I was always in awe at his wealth of information and the time and dedication he regularly put into his posts. He was relentless. A new post would appear every 3 days. Continue reading
Had to fit in the 50’s science fiction classic This Island Earth. As a teenager I was always fascinated by this films incredible imagination. What was the mystery of why these big headed aliens were sneakily kidnapping nuclear scientists? What was their purpose? And before you knew it this wide-eyed wolf-boy was taken on a kind of road movie throughout the stars with added giant alien bug thrown in for good measure.
Tagline – 2-1/2 YEARS IN THE MAKING ! …to bring you sights of FANTASTIC AMAZEMENT never before possible on the motion picture screen
Well flying through the galaxies needs a soundtrack. As I blast off ready to explore the universe you are welcome to join me as we watch distant comets transcend through the Milky Way. Drift through interstellar clouds of nebula’s and wonder at the growing supernova of Betelgeuse. Imagining watching C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate through Roy Batty’s eyes. Shooting through meteorite storms as we discuss extraterrestrial life, the human evolution path, existentialism and the possible outcomes of artificial intelligence and pondering thoughtfully on time travel.
We dream together through the stars.

We Travel The Spaceways
Christmas is upon us. I’ve always preferred the eve to the day, just feels more mellow and chilled. A couple of drinks on the go and the hand keeps reaching for the snack bowls. Continue reading
Marc Maron has a superb interview with another icon of film on his podcast WTF. This time it’s the brilliant action superstar director Walter Hill who made one of my all time favorite films from my teenage years, the classic The Warriors. When it comes to big action films Mr Hill smashes them out the park. You got The Driver with Ryan O’Neal and Bruce Dern , other big favourites are the swampy Southern Comfort with Powers Boothe and the recent wolfie watched mass assembled cast of Extreme Prejudice.
