No Escape (1994) Ray Liotta Fights The Sheriff of Nottingham On Endor!

My time sitting down with a B-Movie this Christmas was met by the revelation that No Escape is within touching distance of A-Movie ranking. It’s story is definitely B division but it’s execution, sheer balls out action, great cast and all out scope bring it climbing up the table looking for promotion.

McVicar (1980) Roger Daltrey prison escape breakout on the run poster movie

WHO had thought it was a good idea to have Roger Daltrey play a hardened criminal and WHO would ever of realised he’d pull it off so convincingly? Right that’s got the WHO gags out the way. Roger Daltrey if you didn’t already know was the lead singer of the British rock group The Who. Branching out from the music side of things, the band had expanded into film production. The Who Films started with the classic Mods and Rockers clash, Quadrophenia in 1979 along with the bands very own documentary The Kids Are Alright. The production company only made one other film. His hand taps the door handle. A tram is coming. Now’s his chance! Continue reading

Tough driving rain smashes against the brick fortress of the Westgate Penitentiary prison walls. If the place wasn’t dark enough as it was, the bleak cold rain just added more dreary dread to the inmates banged up inside. Six guys per cell room, squeezed in like sardines, so close together you just had to be friends. Luckily the six in cellroom R17 are tight together, a band of brothers watching out for each other. Sitting Target (1972) oliver reed film movie jail break hitman poster

Banged up brute Harry Lomart (Oliver Reed) is in for a long stretch this time, possibly 15 years. Well he has murdered someone but at least his wife will wait for him till he gets out. He keeps fit by working out hard in his prison cell, like a caged gorilla doing pull ups from the pipework on the ceiling. Keep active, keep strong and the years will flyby, then he can be back in the arms of his lady. Yeah he can deal with the shakedowns and crappy food, he’s as strong as an ox. Continue reading
